Colours have often been used to reflect human emotions. They are used in a manner suggesting the reason or intensity of one’s behaviour. Understanding color and its impact isn’t just visual but can increase the recognition. Florescent Public School had organised a black and white day celebration for its students. White is pure light and black is the absence of light. In many cultures, these two non-colours are associated with life and death rituals. For essential questions about identity, the opposites black and white are often chosen. Recycling is much more than just reducing the amount of waste sent to the landfill, with a long list of benefits that aren’t limited to the environment — there are economic and social advantages to recycling. Florescent Public School organised a “Best out of Waste” celebration for the students of grade 1 to grade 8. The studens participated in using waste and their creativity to create something of a use. The students created a hanging photoframe and a pen stand and many other showcased their creativity. Students thought as we live in a consumer-driven world, with a growing appetite for new things, if we begin to look at the waste created by this level of consumption in a different light, we might turn our problem into an opportunity. In a broad sense, recycling is part of an ethic of resource efficiency – of using products to their fullest potential. When a recycled material, rather than a raw material, is used to make a new product, natural resources and energy are conserved. Florescent Public School thanks the students for the involvement and enthusiasm of people like them, recycling is back and so are thousands upon thousands of recycled products made from materials that would otherwise be piling up in our nation's landfills.

From octagonal stop signs and rectangular doors, to triangular roofs and circular wheels—shapes are everywhere. Learning shapes not only helps children identify and organize visual information, it helps them learn skills in other curriculum areas including reading, math, and science. Florescent Public School organised a shape day activity for the students of Pre-primary to enlighten them of the shapes they encounter in their lives. Learning shapes also helps children understand other signs and symbols. Kids are able to notice and manipulate shapes long before they begin to draw them or even learn their names. One of the earliest things that children learn is shapes. From the day they are born, they begin to learn about the shapes of the objects around them and the spaces in between. One of the most important benefits of toddlers and preschoolers learning about shapes is that it helps them develop early literacy and math skills. Florescent Public School hopes that activities as such would inculcate more rational and creative thinking into a child at an early age. We hope the children make the most out of these activities.

We live in a world where it has become increasingly challenging to keep our children safe from all forms of molestation. We have the onerous task of taking all necessary steps to ensure that they do not suffer abuse. Florescent Public School prides itself on being a safe space for students and initiates the education of the students on good and bad touch. Knowledge they say is power. Knowing exactly what we are up against and how to combat it is very important in this matter. It is not just about ‘stranger danger’. Children were taught of how they could feel a good and bad touch. Children often face or experience the risk of bad touch from people they feel are ‘good’. The perpetrator may make the victim feel special and tell them that such acts are a little secret between them. By referring to the behaviour as ‘an unsafe touch’ it may be easier to disclose. This removes guilt and keeps them from having to make a subjective or moral distinction about the perpetrator. Florescent Public School hopes an enlightening discussion and teachings like this would help the students overcome the shame and share their true feelings in a safe space.
