Good Touch Bad Touch
We live in a world where it has become increasingly challenging to keep our children safe from all forms of molestation. We have the onerous task of taking all necessary steps to ensure that they do not suffer abuse.
Florescent Public School prides itself on being a safe space for students and initiates the education of the students on good and bad touch. Knowledge they say is power. Knowing exactly what we are up against and how to combat it is very important in this matter. It is not just about ‘stranger danger’. Children were taught of how they could feel a good and bad touch. Children often face or experience the risk of bad touch from people they feel are ‘good’. The perpetrator may make the victim feel special and tell them that such acts are a little secret between them. By referring to the behaviour as ‘an unsafe touch’ it may be easier to disclose. This removes guilt and keeps them from having to make a subjective or moral distinction about the perpetrator.
Florescent Public School hopes an enlightening discussion and teachings like this would help the students overcome the shame and share their true feelings in a safe space.
