Clay Moulding Activity

A technology free childhood, where we all came back home after the evening play with mud on our hands. That was a childhood free of modern technology, with the time changed, today’s kids do not get the opportunity to enjoy in a similar manner.

Playing with modelling clay or pottery clay can help children develop important skills and competencies. It also helps improve eye/hand coordination and build both gross and fine motor skills, including the small muscles in hands and fingers. This helps with dexterity and is beneficial for children. Understanding it’s importance, Florescent Public School organised a Clay Moulding Activity for the students of pre-primary. This included the students creating various aquatic animals likes starfish and fish and octopus. Activities like this makes a child appreciate the similarities and differences between individuals. Clay also allows a child to learn to repair mistakes and therefore not be afraid to make them. Making mistakes is essential for self-improvement but can be difficult and even an obstacle for some children. The forgiving quality of clay, and therefore the ability to readily fix mistakes, gives the child a sense of control.

Florescent Public School hopes all the students enjoyed and learnt from today’s activity to create aquatic animals from clay. We are happy to pursue learn while you play philosophy.
